Olympics Betting Predictions - Update 3
Nice start to action in the pool, I bet some of you had some explaining to do when cheering for the Dutch in the relay! Can't rest on our laurels, let's take a look at what's in store for Monday.
Four finals:
Womens 100Fly
Interesting race this. Trickett got a scare when she scraped into the semis, then came out and swam the second-best time in the world this year. But everyone in this field bar Trickett, Schipper and Dekker have recorded massive PBs in the prelims. Does Trickett have anything left? She swam 52.34 in the last leg of the relay, which if you adjust by about half a second for reaction time, she's pushing a WR in the freestyle. Yep, normal service has resumed. Schipper is fresh but has at least five faster times than her semi result. If anything, I'd be prepared to back Magnuson to beat her in a h2h at 2.5 or better.
No bet at this stage, may update this later if w/o Trickett or h2h markets appear.
Mens 100 Breast
Odd race this one. Hansen has traded south of 1.5 on the early Betfair markets, and now he's in lane two. Alexander Dale Oen from Bergen in Norway is the favourite at evens or shorter. Norway have never won an Olympic swimming medal and Dale Oen has had his best swim during the prelims at championships in the past. Kitajima is second favourite, but he's a 200m specialist. Sludnov was the first sub-minute man but 7yrs ago, Borysik is the short-course world champ, Duboscq lost at the Euro Championships to Dale Oen by a fingernail.
Dale Oen will either create history or he'll have gone too hard in the semi and the race is wide open. I'm smelling an upset. If you lay both the favs on Betfair currently, you'll effectively get double figures for 'the field' and I think that's considerable overs.
Lay Dale Oen (sub 1.9) and Nakajima (sub 2.7) for 1 unit. (Use the Payout function on Betfair to level it up)
Other two events to come after their respective heats and the markets re-opening.
